What helps you be creative?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 24, 2009:
The most important thing for me is to talk to inspiring, positive, creative people (like all of you!). That gets the spark going.
To sustain the flame: I need to be alone, safe and quiet. Listening to music helps. Walking my dog works. Writing in my diary works. Taking a bath works. All these things are ways to relax, ponder and organise my mind... but I think the most important part is to start. If I don't start then all the buildup just remains what it is.
Once I get started, it becomes an avalanche.

:) ek weet wat ek moet doen…
I like your metaphor of sustaining the flame. Yeah, baths and solitude and walking work for me too. And music and lately just finding words and playing with them. Sometimes it's a matter of rekindling the flame, though, for me.
oh that's a great picture to accompagny your words.. and you're right, sparks fly in the company of inspiring people. And them some quiet time to digest it all. yum!
Thank you Laura and Tara! So wonderful to hear that you experience the same thing. :)
